Blown Glass: Enchanting Forms, Miraculous Skills - Suntory Museum of Art

More info about Suntory Museum of Art here.

Glassblowing is a technique that involves shaping vessels by blowing air into molten glass, causing it to expand like a balloon. The glassblower skillfully works with the hot glass, gauging its temperature and condition, to create unique pieces that take advantage of the material's properties. This exhibition explores the methods employed by glassblowers to create distinctive glass works and showcases both ancient and modern examples from various cultures.

Additionally, the exhibition highlights collaborative research between contemporary glass artists and researchers, delving into the techniques used by unknown glassblowers of the past. Visitors are invited to appreciate the artworks from the perspective of their creators and rediscover the fascination of blown glass.
