A Trendsetting Center of Creativity
SHIBUYA STREAM, a towering multifunctional complex, was inaugurated in September 2018 as part of the efforts to develop underground connections of the Tokyu Toyoko and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin lines and to renew the unused platform of the Shibuya station of the Kyu-Toyoko line and the surrounding area.
Urban Regeneration and Revival of the Shibuya River 🏗️💧
With the emergence of SHIBUYA STREAM, the Shibuya River has been restored. The collaboration between public and private sectors, along with the development of the boulevard linking the square and Daikanyama area, has successfully transformed the area into a hub attracting "creative workers." The complex houses around 30 stores, offices, hotels, and event halls. Here, you can enjoy dining and everything the area offers, relaxing while admiring the SHIBUYA STREAM landscape.
A Beloved Addition to Shibuya's Entertainment District 🍽️🏞️
Opened in 2018, Shibuya Stream is a much-loved recent addition to Shibuya's vibrant entertainment district and is part of its extensive renovation, which began with the completion of Shibuya Hikarie in 2012 and will conclude with the total makeover of the Shibuya Station Square in 2027. Previously, the Shibuya River was one of many waterways in Tokyo that were quickly covered with concrete to make room for development ahead of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. Now, city developers have begun to reverse some of the past damage, restoring waterways and green spaces to the concrete city.
A Unique Experience of Shopping and Dining 🛍️🍜
Shibuya Stream, located southeast of Shibuya Station, is in a less crowded and more relaxed area compared to the station's north side. It also creates an excellent connection for exploring the adjacent and trendy Daikanyama. The cafes and restaurants near the river offer an almost European dining option - outdoor and along the river - rarely found in Tokyo. Upstairs, more elegant restaurants await those looking to stretch their legs after a busy day in Shibuya, with coffee shops, Japanese, Thai, Italian culinary options, and much more.
