Venice, marvellous and unique city that the world envies us, voluptuously nestled among the canals like a lady waiting for her lover, Venice that conjures up images of eighteenth-century love affairs, intrigue, masked balls and magical atmospheres almost suspended and timeless.
It is impossible to resist its charm, not to be enchanted as you enter the beautiful St. Mark's Square so full of art and wonders.
I deeply love Venice because half of my blood belongs to it, my mother was born in Murano (world-famous for glass craftsmanship) and every holiday since I was born I have spent in this wonderful place, so I can well understand why so many couples wish to crown their dream of love in Venice.
A few examples?
The grizzled and charming actor George Clooney chose the Serenissima to get married to Amal Alamuddin, a lawyer, or the footballer Alvaro Morata who married Alice Campello in the beautiful Redentore Church in Giudecca.
If you who are reading this article are also in love with Venice so much that you want to celebrate your wedding here, there are a few things you should know, which I will explain in the next few lines.
FIRST OF ALL... HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Unfortunately, choosing to get married in Venice can be quite expensive... but it is such a unique event that it is worth it...
If you are a non-resident you have to pay a fee and produce a series of documents that vary according to whether you are Italian or foreign. At this link Wedding in Venice you can find a series of interesting and useful information on this very subject.
THE ORGANISATION
Once you have defined the bureaucratic part you have to consider that you can only travel by boat or on foot, so it is better to book the hotel location for the lunch/reception and the church/municipality as close as possible to each other.
If this is not the case, i.e. if the wedding and reception locations are far apart, you can consider hiring a speedboat (there are vehicles suitable for transporting all the wedding guests in a single block). If, on the other hand, it is the place where you will be getting ready that is far away from where the ceremony will take place, you will have to hire a gondola to take you and your future husband to the church or town hall you have chosen for the wedding ceremony.
THE LOCATIONS
As well as being in a unique place in the world, villas and palaces are also historical and art sites, so the rents are quite high and must be booked in good time due to the high demand. Otherwise, you can opt for one of the many typical restaurants in Venice, either way I recommend you do not give up a typical Venetian menu (thanks to my aunt, a wonderful cook, and to my origins, I know the specialities of the local tradition very well......mouth-watering!!!).
HOW TO ORGANISE YOURSELF
To prepare for the final stages of the preparations with peace of mind, consider a total stay of at least three or four days for you, your future husband and your loved ones who will want to follow you more closely. To this end, you will need to book a hotel that is, as I said before, as strategically located as possible with respect to the development of the wedding ceremony from its celebration to the reception.
Given the growing demand, there is no shortage of Wedding Planners and specialised Teams offering future brides and grooms complete Venetian wedding packages...made-to-measure, just do a little research on the web. This is also the way I suggest you proceed, and don't think it's more expensive. An organiser will know what to offer you based on your needs and your budget, and will make everything run smoothly and perfectly while you and your future husband will have nothing left to do but enjoy your magnificent and unforgettable wedding in the Serenissima.
