Japanese tattoos come from traditional Japanese culture. Which is famous for its continuous quest for perfection and beauty, and these characteristics are also reflected in its tattoos.

In Japanese tattoos, in fact, every detail and nuance is taken care of to the smallest detail, and the choice and location of the subjects.

For example, the lion is preferably depicted together with the peony, the dragon next to the chrysanthemum, and so on.

The purpose of Japanese tattoos is both decorative and spiritual, and it is these complex interweavings of symbols that give the tattoo its great artistic and social value.

Japanese tattoos are called Irezumi, from "ireru" meaning to insert and "sumi" ink, or Horimono, from "horu" inscribe and "mono" something.

Depending on which of the two terms is used to define a tattoo has different meanings that vary by meaning and social class.

The former had negative connotations (punitive tattoos), the latter originated as body decoration.
