Yakiniku: Japanese Grilled Meat Cuisine
What is Yakiniku?
Yakiniku (焼き肉, meaning "grilled meat") is a Japanese style of cooking bite-sized pieces of meat, often beef and offal, along with vegetables. Prepared on gridirons or griddles over charcoal (sumibi, 炭火), or on gas and electric grills, it is one of Japan's most popular dishes.
Origins
Modern yakiniku has its roots in Korean barbecue, a staple of Korean cuisine. Over time, it evolved into a distinct Japanese culinary tradition, blending influences while maintaining its own unique style.
